Overview
Identification, documentation, and assessment of all occupational health and safety hazards in the workplace, including routine and non-routine activities, with consideration for social factors and worker demographics.
Requirements
- 8.2.1 The Facility shall identify, document, and assess the occupational health and safety (OHS) hazards in the workplace associated with infrastructure, equipment, materials, substances and the physical conditions of the workplace that workers, contractors, and visitors may be exposed to, including but not limited to exposure to hazards related to:
- 8.2.1.1 Fire safety
- 8.2.1.2 Electrical safety and arc flash
- 8.2.1.3 Hazardous energy (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, kinetic, and thermal energy sources)
- 8.2.1.4 Chemical use, handling, and storage
- 8.2.1.5 Confined spaces
- 8.2.1.6 Work at heights
- 8.2.1.7 Powered equipment and vehicles
- 8.2.1.8 Hand tools
- 8.2.1.9 Design and age of Facility infrastructure
- 8.2.1.10 Stairways, walkways, and work surfaces
- 8.2.1.11 Hot work
- 8.2.1.12 Lighting and temperature exposure
- 8.2.1.13 Occupational illness and diseases
- 8.2.1.14 Mental well-being
- 8.2.2 OHS hazards shall be assessed, and communicated to workers, prior to commencement of new, or changes to, activities, equipment, processes and job functions, or any time new hazard information becomes available. This includes relevant information collected from grievance mechanisms, incident investigations and emergency events and associated root causes.
- 8.2.3 Hazard assessments shall include routine and non-routine activities performed by workers and contractors, be inclusive of social factors such as workload, harassment, and physical abilities, and worker demographics, and take into account potential hazards throughout the lifecycle of products, services, and operations at the Facility.
