Overview
Communication of OHS hazard information to workers and contractors, training appropriate to roles, protections for hazard reporters, and records of training and qualifications.
Requirements
The Facility shall:
- 8.5.1 Communicate information on OHS hazards and their control measures to workers, suppliers and contractors, including the requirement to stop work and report potential hazards when unsafe conditions or behaviors are identified.
- 8.5.2 Establish policies to protect workers from disciplinary actions and reprisals when reporting OHS hazards.
- 8.5.3 Determine the level of training, awareness, and competence for workers, suppliers and contractors necessary to ensure effective and consistent implementation of identified controls.
- 8.5.4 Verify that workers receive health and safety training appropriate to their role and function within the workplace, are competent, and possess the necessary qualifications prior to conducting work with potential exposure to OHS hazards.
- 8.5.5 Provide specialized occupational health and safety training to young workers to ensure they are adequately informed of and protected from OHS hazards.
- 8.5.6 Provide training on all types of PPE that the Facility provides to its workers and are required to use in order to carry out their job functions.
- 8.5.7 Ensure suppliers and contractors demonstrate that they are qualified to perform support functions, especially high hazard activities, prior to conducting work at the Facility.
- 8.5.8 Provide all workers, contractors, and suppliers performing unescorted work at the Facility with management system(s) awareness training to ensure they understand the importance of conformance with the requirements of the Facility's management system(s).
- 8.5.9 Periodically evaluate competence based on training requirements and monitor completion of required training programs.
- 8.5.10 Maintain records of worker, supplier and contractor trainings, certifications, and qualifications.
