Full Description
MSG02 Management Systems
Standard Section: 6.2 Category: Management Systems Scheme: Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP) Standard Version: 2.0 for Piloting (effective April 30, 2025)
Overview
Establishment, documentation, and implementation of management systems to effectively manage ESG issues, with defined objectives, roles, training, record-keeping, and management reviews.
Requirements
The Facility shall:
- 6.2.1 Establish, document, and implement a management system(s) to effectively manage ESG issues relevant to the Facility. Systems may be established at the Facility level, or at the corporate level with inclusion of Facilities.
- 6.2.2 Define the scope of the management system(s) by determining the boundaries and applicability of the ESG issues identified in Sections 7 to 9 of this Standard, with consideration for the extent of control and influence the Facility has in the area where it operates.
- 6.2.3 Establish and document objectives and targets aimed at continually improving the Facility's ESG performance. Objectives and targets shall be measurable and specific to the size, scale, and function of the Facility, and consistent with the established ESG policies and requirements.
- 6.2.4 Assign roles and responsibilities for development, implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the management system(s), including fulfillment of ESG policy commitments. Verify that sufficient resources are provided to effectively implement the management system(s).
- 6.2.5 Provide awareness training to workers on the requirements of the management system(s), their role with respect to management system implementation, and the consequences of non-conformance with the requirements. Extend awareness training to sub-contractors, as is relevant.
- 6.2.6 Develop information and record-keeping systems to collect information on ESG risk management processes, decision-making, and responses.
- 6.2.7 Conduct periodic documented reviews of its management system(s) to verify the system is implemented and functions as intended, and to identify opportunities to continually improve the suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness of the management system(s) to enhance ESG performance.
- 6.2.8 Document outputs of management reviews that identify decisions to adjust policies, management system processes, and resource allocations based on the results of the Facility's iterative risk assessments.
- 6.2.9 Ensure consultation or participation from top management in management reviews.

Conformity Alignment
Meets
Pass: Yes
Definition: "Facility has a documented ESG management system with defined scope, measurable objectives and targets, assigned roles and responsibilities, worker awareness training extended to contractors as relevant, information and record-keeping systems, and documented periodic management reviews (at least annually) with top management participation."
Partially Meets
Pass: No
Definition: "An ESG management system exists but is partially implemented: e.g., scope is defined but objectives are not measurable, roles are assigned but resources are insufficient, worker training is not extended to contractors, or management reviews are not documented."
Remediation: 180 days
Does Not Meet
Pass: No
Definition: "No documented ESG management system, or no defined scope or objectives, or no assigned roles and responsibilities for ESG implementation, or no evidence of periodic management reviews."
Remediation: 90 days
Priority
Pass: No
Definition: "Priority findings are not raised against this criterion. Management system gaps are assessed under Does not Meet."
Remediation: 30 days
Not Applicable
Pass: Yes
Definition: "This criterion is not applicable to any facility - all facilities must establish an ESG management system regardless of size or type of operations."
Not Able To Assess
Pass: No
Definition: "The assessor was unable to access management system documentation, training records, or management review outputs to evaluate implementation."
