Overview
Documented evaluation of emergency egress requirements, adequate and maintained emergency exits, appropriate signage, lighting, and testing of egress systems in all Facility buildings.
Requirements
The Facility shall:
- 8.8.1 Maintain a documented evaluation of the emergency egress requirements for each building owned and operated by the Facility as determined by national standards.
- 8.8.2 Take into account potential emergency scenarios when planning and developing infrastructure through installation of early warning systems, alarms, emergency exits, emergency exit signage, lighting and ventilation, emergency lighting, emergency wash stations, back-up energy systems, and refuge stations.
- 8.8.3 Ensure emergency exits are appropriate in number, location, adequacy.
- 8.8.4 Ensure emergency exits are maintained in an unlocked, operating, and unobstructed condition.
- 8.8.5 Ensure emergency pathway lighting and signage are adequate, regularly tested, operating and in the appropriate language(s) for the work force.
