Overview
Documented measurable circular economy targets for material recovery, product longevity, and incorporation of recycled content, with monitoring and transparent public commitments.
Requirements
The Facility shall:
- 7.10.1 Establish documented measurable and credible circular economy targets, which may include:
- 7.10.1.1 Designing products for maximum material recovery/recycling at end-of-first-life.
- 7.10.1.2 Designing products for extended life; reuse, repair refurbishment.
- 7.10.1.3 Incorporating post-consumer recycled content (or pre-consumer, but must be differentiated), among other actions.
- 7.10.2 Record baselines for each target, and the year of the baseline, and ensure a monitoring system is in place to track progress.
- 7.10.3 Adopt processes, where applicable, to produce less waste and to capitalize on waste as an opportunity for value creation rather than a cost driver.
- 7.10.3.1 Track and document waste generation and disposition data.
- 7.10.4 Collect and document information on the circularity of materials used within their operations.
- 7.10.5 Collect and document the type and percentage of secondary materials (pre-consumer and post-consumer scrap) sourced and processed by the Facility.
- 7.10.6 Document the measures taken to collect and reprocess run-around scrap.
- 7.10.7 Publicly commit to apply the principles of circular economy in the Facility's operations by sharing baselines and targets in a transparent manner.
